Welcome

Welcome to a partnership with this congregation of disciples that are seeking to discern God's vision for ministry even "at the risk of losing its life, trusting in God alone as the author and giver of life, sharing the gospel, and doing those deeds in the world that point beyond themselves to the new reality in Christ." (Presbyterian Book of Order, G-3.0400). Guided by God's Word and Holy Spirit, may we as a fellowship of forgiven sinners seek to live out faithfully the promises of Baptism and vows of ordination that are not only taught, but also caught. On this exciting and challenging journey called faith, we hope to not only learn about the Jesus of History, but also encounter the Risen Christ of Experience in the proclamation and teaching of the Word, the administration of the Sacraments and in the face of those served and joining this fellowship.

We invite others to see and experience God's presence and claim on their lives through Jesus Christ. With the spiritual yearning in our society and the world, the church may be facing the greatest opportunity for spreading the Gospel in our lifetimes, and possibly since the Reformation. As was stated at the funeral of a seminary professor, Dr. John Leith, we are convinced that "human life is rooted in the intention and will of God."

As was true with the Reformation, the Bible is the central guide for us to use for prayerful discernment as led by the Holy Spirit. We hope to will discern together how God is calling us to be faithful to the Greatest Commandment to love our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. May we strive to be faithful to the calling of the church, as stated in the Book of Order "...to be a sign in and for the world of the new reality which God has made available to people in Jesus Christ." Together we trust we will discern God's calling to fulfill Christ's commandments to "Love your neighbor" and the Great Commission He left to the church.

We find guidance and hope in the model of the early church found in Acts 2:42: " They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."

Come and join in this exciting partnership with the congregation of Bedford Presbyterian Church and God!
