LOGOS

The LOGOS Ministry
What is LOGOS?
LOGOS is a dynamic ministry of Christian nurture, the goal of which is to nurture youth and children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to live as his disciples. LOGOS literally means "word" in Greek. The opening words of the Gospel of John remind us that Jesus Christ is the living Word of God.

The Four Parts of LOGOS:
The four parts of LOGOS are based on Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Each Wednesday children, youth and adults gather to participate in Recreation Time, Worship Skills, Bible Time, and Family Time.

Recreation Time:
A combination of fun and fellowship as the youth participate in games and crafts. Members of the congregation often come and share their hobbies such as pottery, woodworking, painting, etc. giving the children a wide variety of crafts to choose from and a chance to build relationships with adults in the congregation. Games are non-competitive and focus on relationship building within the group.

Worship Skills:
Children and youth prepare to participate in Sunday worship through singing, dramatic scripture reading, liturgical movement, tone chimes, and various other parts of Sunday worship. They also learn to share the gifts that God has given them by visiting local retirement homes and singing/visiting with shut- ins.

Bible Time:
Grades 1 - 5 are currently using the Faith for Life curriculum from LOGOS System Associates. Our middle school grades 6-8 are studying the Alpha Course for Teens and our Senior Highs are participating in a "theology lab" based on Joan of Arcadia Television Series.

Family Time:
Dinner!! Everyone regroups in the Fellowship Hall for a "themed meal" complete with decorations and activities planned around a unique theme. Children learn the importance of a blessing before the meal and thanking those who have prepared it. They learn how to serve others and the importance of table manners and conversation. They engage in a time of "holy hilarity" as they participate in games and contests upon the conclusion of dinner. Some dinners are designed to honor members of the community and congregation like "Favorite Teacher Night," "Invite Your Grandparents Night," and "Veteran's Night."

When is LOGOS?
LOGOS meets on Wednesday evenings from 4:00 - 7:00 for grades 1 - 8, and 6:00 - 8:00 for senior highs. We meet September through April with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
